Firmware 1.93 Matrix Infinity

1.93

Hi all I bought a PS2 chipped with official Matrix Inifinty from a charity shop. Opened it up and it has the green dot and it also updates the firmware so it is confirmed not a clone.

  • A Feature Filled Chip For The Playstation 2. The PS2 Matrix Infinity V1.93 is the latest version available for the ultimate in busting your Playstation 2 wide open with more features, more functions and more ways to enjoy your PS2.
  • Another bonus with the Modbo 4.0 is its now running the Matrix Infinity firmware v1.91 and is also possible to upgrade the firmware at a later date without any problems. If that wasn’t enough, they have now managed to get the firmware’s config menu and all its options to work and save.
  • Compatibility Matrix 18 2 Updates via LAN/RS-232 Firmware Update Tool General Information 28 Important 28. 1290 Infinity LC Modules 163. Agilent Technologies 1.

.Modbo5.0 chips are clones of the original matrix infinity, they are CHEAP CHINESE CLONES. The modbo5.0 comes with firmware 1.93. Some modbos5.0 have hacked 1.99 not 1.93, the firmware cannot be updated or changed like you can do on the original matrix infinity, attempting to do so will brick your chip and could potentially the bios aswell.

However it will only boot PAL PS2 games (both DVD and CD) and nothing else. I have tried PAL, US and Jap NTSC PSX games and also backups, an Import US NTSC PS2 game as well as a couple of burned PS2 games and nothing will boot. I have managed to upgrade the firmware to 1.82 but would like to get it up to 1.93 ( the latest I believe) to eliminate a firmware issue. I have been over to SKS Apps to download the latest but when I download the 1.93 firmware and burn it it shows on my PS2 as 1.82 firmware. Also tried a few other sites but every single file I download which states '1.93' in the file name is in fact 1.82. I burning coasters here so was wondering if someone can please help me by directing me a to 'confirmed' 1.93 firmware? I already opened a thread here which will detail a bit more what the problem is and what I have doen so far but the thread went quiet I think because it was in the wrong section.

I will eventually take the PS2 apart to have a look inside to see if it is installed correctly but I would like to get the latest firmware installed before I do that to confirm it is not a firmware issue. Thanks for any help that you can provide.
